چکیده

A stu dy of the appearance potentia ls and isotope abundance of tbe rare gases has been made \yith a Consolidated Engin eering Corp. mass spectrometer as a check on the operation of th e instrument. The res ults a re comparable to previously publi shed data. In add ition, some nell' experimental value of ionization poten tials have been obtained. Generally, good agreement of the isotope ab undance measurements with previously published values obtained on other types of in struments and with chemica]]y determined atom ic weights, indicates a minimum of discrim ination effec ts. The relati ve yalues of th e ion current s for the rare gases were obtai lled and p.lotted against th e atomic n um bel'. K 0 simple relation betwcen sensitidty and atom ic Humber is evident.

Control of the Reactive Sputtering Process Using Two Reactive Gases

Reactive sputtering when two reactive gases are used presents special problems. Both reactive gases affect the plasma conditions, which means that both affect common feedback control signals such as the cathode voltage and optical emission signals. Two reactive gases require that unique signals for each reactive gas be acquired and that control of each of the reactive gases is done separately. ...

Estimation of second virial coefficients for rare gases in thermodynamic views

Using the Gaussian 2003 software and MP2/ 6–311 ++ G** method for He: He, Ne:Ne andMP2/6-31G method for Ar: Ar, Kr: Kr and HF/STO-3G method for Xe: Xe, the optimizedinteraction energies between two like atoms of rare gases (He, Ne, Ar, Kr and Xe) as a functionof the distances between the centers of two considered atoms were evaluated and the resultswere interpreted according to the Lennard – Jo...

Continuous measurement of blood gases in vivo by mass spectrometry.

Continuous analysis of oxygen and carbon dioxide tension in the blood phase, over periods of 4-5 h, was carried out in the pulmonary artery (93 determinations in six anesthetized dogs) and in the aorta (29 determinations in four anaesthetized dogs). Silastic-covered stainless steel catheters attached to a mass spectrometer were used. The mass spectrometer signals were linearly related to the bl...

Continuous Measurements of Dissolved Ne, Ar, Kr, and Xe Ratios with a Field-Deployable Gas Equilibration Mass Spectrometer.

Noble gases dissolved in natural waters are useful tracers for quantifying physical processes. Here, we describe a field-deployable gas equilibration mass spectrometer (GEMS) that provides continuous, real-time measurements of Ne, Ar, Kr, and Xe mole ratios in natural waters. Gas is equilibrated with a membrane contactor cartridge and measured with a quadrupole mass spectrometer, after in-line ...
